Jackrabbits are commonly seen throughout the day at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex.

Sightings of thirty-five mammal species have been recorded inside the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex. Jackrabbits are commonly seen throughout the day. Cottontails scamper back and forth across the auto-tour roads before daylight. Black bear and mountain lion sightings are rare, but these larger mammals have been seen at the Sacramento River National Wildlife Refuge. Photo by Steven T. Callan.
